Wheels is a classic, no-frills, neighborhood gay watering hole. The neon beer signs in its dark facade indicate its low-key vibe, but the place is reliable and sort of quaintly charming, if rustic. It’s been a stalwart of gay Providence for 15+ years. It’s a bit crusty, but the vibe is friendly and relaxed.

Play pool (or Keno), order up some retro tunes on the jukebox and settle in. The locals and bar staffers (which veer from 35 and older) are likely to know each other. Make a friend, have a beer — it’s all good.
