Vancouver Fast Facts:

  • Gayborhood The gay scene in Vancouver is concentrated on rainbow flag adorned Davie Street, the heart of the residential West End, where an estimated 35% of the population is gay or lesbian. The other heart of Vancouver’s gay community is Commercial Drive wit
  • Rock the Boat The pint-sized ferries that chug back and forth across False Creek are an enjoyable way to get from the West End or Yaletown to Granville Island or Main Street. They might not seem like the fastest option, but they save tackling bridge traffic or worse - trying to find parking on Granville Island.
  • Get Wrecked Want a beachy day on the water? Be sure to also check out the beaches in Stanley Park as well as clothing-optional Wreck Beach.
  • Walk It Out Many of Vancouver’s main sights are concentrated around downtown so you can easily get to most places without a car. When the weather is obliging, Vancouver is a fun city to walk around. Historic sights like the Hotel Vancouver, Gastown, and Vancouver Art Gallery are all within walking distance, and gay bars on Davie Street are just a few blocks over.
  • Gay 411 For more info on gay happenings when you're in town check out the local LGBT paper Xtra West (http:www.xtra.ca) Tourism Vancouver's gay and lesbian site (http://www.tourismvancouver.com/visitors/about_vancouver/gay-friendly_vancouver) or V Rag (http://v-rag.com).
