- Tel Aviv can be the starting point to lots of adventurous excursions. Check out the Negev for some desert fun, Eilat for its water sports, and Sefat for a foray into Jewish mysticism.
- Terrorism sucks, but it's a reality in Tel Aviv. Tourists are advised not to take buses and to only take registered cabs with green flags.
- In Israel, it's tradition to pick up soldiers who are hitchhiking. Have fun with that one!
- If you come back from Israel wearing a red Kabbalah string, everyone will think you're a douche. Instead, opt for some evil eye paraphernalia. Just try and keep it smaller than your fingertip.
- Traditionally, everything shuts down from sundown on Friday evening until the following evening for Shabbat, the Jewish day of prayer. Be prepared in certain areas to hunt for open restaurants and pay more for cabs on a Friday evening.
- Tel Aviv still thinks it's Ibiza, so a typical night of partying may only get going at 2AM and end with breakfast.
- Most men in Israel look gay but not all of them are. Just be sure you know a guy plays for your team before you pinch the ass of his white Capri pants.
- Your passport cannot expire less than 6 months from the date of entry into Israel.

- Tipping is standard. Leave about 12-15%.
- The electricity is 220 volts, 50 Hz. If you bring an adaptor, make sure it also converts the voltage and not just the plug.
- Almost 300 days of the year are warm to hot and sunny. It rarely rains during the summer season.
- If you plan to visit areas outside of Tel Aviv, bring head covering. Women should also bring clothes that cover your shoulders and pants that end below your knees.
