Stockholm Fast Facts:
- Gayborhood Swedes are famous for their tolerance, so there's no one "gay neighborhood." It's spread out!
- Swedes take Christmas very seriously-the gnomes, the trees, the food... all of it. If you can brave the weather, visit Stockholm during the holidays for gorgeous holiday markets and incredible seasonal goods. Especially in Old Town.
- The way to say "hi!" in Swedish is "hej!," pronounced "hey!" Pretty cute.
- 7-11's? In Stockholm? Yup, the Slurpee-churning giant is everywhere. And it has the best hourly internet rates in town.
- Stockholm's metro system runs efficiently all year long, with unlimited-ride passes available at every tourist office.
- Local currency is the Swedish krona, which is even harder on the dollar to exchange than the Euro. It's also a very coin-centric currency, so be prepared to carry around a lot of change all the time.
