Puerto Rico Fast Facts:

  • Gayborhood The country's gay scene is concentrated in San Juan off the Condado where there are a number of gay clubs, cafes and beach hideaways to keep you entertained.
  • Jennifer Lopez dresses rather over-the-top but that doesn't mean all Puerto Ricans do. In fact, the culture can be rather formal and it may be advisable to wear pants in some of the bigger hotels.
  • Take the Bacardi tour at the beginning of your trip and hit up the gift shop. That way, you're set for all your pre-gaming needs for the duration of your stay in Puerto Rico
  • The Atlantic Beach Hotel is largely considered the center of all things gay on the island, so if you're looking for some same-sex camaraderie or simply want to borrow someone's Dynasty DVDs, this is likely the place to go.
  • Even die-hard city mice should venture out into nature during a trip to Puerto Rico. So close out your bar tab and get hiking.
  • Nude sunbathing isn't technically allowed in Puerto Rico, but if you really want that all-over tan or just like nude recreation, check out the secluded nude beach area on Palomino Island.
