Gay Friendly Rating: Gay Friendly Rating Tolerant and friendly; but be mindful about PDAs.
The "City of a Hundred Spires" serves up the world's tastiest and cheapest beer! And handsome natives, too!

Prague Fast Facts:

  • Gayborhood The emerging gay quarter is in Vinohrady (Praha 2).
  • The Czech Republic has not converted to the Euro. 1 US dollar hovers around 21 Czech Koruny. Check exchange rates and use ATMs, never change money at the airport!
  • Costs are on the rise but still lag behind Western Europe's cities. Watch out for price-gouging, especially with taxis. Have the hotel arrange your rides or use public transport. It's inexpensive and easy to navigate. Most people speak at least some English so don't be afraid to ask for directions.
  • Many consider Czech beer to be the finest in the world. It costs next to nothing and tourists and residents heavily drink Budvar, Staropramen and Pilsner Urquell. Bar waiters may automatically bring you a pivo (half litre of beer). (You can politely refuse.) Also try Slivovitz, a Balkan specialty, similar to brandy. Just round-up the bill to tip-this isn't Manhattan.
  • Steer clear of any illegal activities and as always when travelling abroad, watch out for hustlers and protect your wallet.
