  • Gayborhood Progressive Croatia grants same-sex unions to gay folks, but open displays of gay PDA aren't advised. But there are some gay venues in Split, and popular gay beaches in Split and Dubrovnik.
  • Europe is train-travel heaven, right? Think again. Trains in Croatia are slow and there is no rail service between Dubrovnik and Split. For speedier options, follow the locals and go by bus or ferry. One of several ferry operators in Croatia, Jadrolinija is the largest. Traveling by car is a great way to see the countryside, while the most romantic choice of transport might be to charter your own sailboat cruise. For travel information and the location of stations, your best bet is to hit the tourist office when you get into town.
