Denmark's gem is a watery haven of cool design, great shopping and Scandinavian style.

Copenhagen Fast Facts:

  • Gayborhood Denmark was the first nation in the world to legalize gay marriage! Hurrah! But they do things in an orderly fashion. Hitting the scene means following a schedule of when to go where. Ask a local!
  • Leave the heels at home! Copenhagen is mostly paved with cobblestones which can look great but are total ankle twisters in pumps.
  • Bring a credit card! The Danes use credit cards for everything, even taxis. This was to discourage pick pocketing and it has worked.
  • Bring a sweater. No matter what time of year one goes to Denmark there is always the chance it will be chilly. You are in Scandinavia after all.
  • Try to book a trip in June or July when the sun is out for the longest. It usually sets around 1am and rises at 4am during these months which makes partying till the break of dawn a total cinch!
  • Hang with the Hipsters! The neighborhood called Vesterbro, was a haven for hookers until recently and is now becoming quite posh. Brimming with great shops, cafes this has become the new trendy area for queers to live and socialize.
